DIPLOMA IN MARINE ENGINEEERING (D.M.E)

Eligibility:-

Applicants should possess Diploma in Mechanical / Marine / Naval Architecture / Electrical / Electrical and Electronics Engineering with minimum of 50% in English at 10th or 12th std, or degree course.

 

Age Limit:-

Maximum 28 years of age as on 1st of March or 1st of September

 

Physical Standards:-

Medically fit as per the standards set by M. S. Medical Examination Rules

 

Eyesight:-

Candidates have to qualify a full eyesight test conducted by the Mercantile Marine Department before being finally selected for the course. They should have 6/6 in each eye without visual aids and should be free from color blindness.

B.SC. (NAUTICAL SCIENCE) COURSE - 3 YEARS (6 SEMESTERS)

Introduction:-

On successful completion of this course the trainees can join as a NAUTICAL TRAINEE CADET on board a ship (Indian / Foreign Shipping Companies). With further sea service and post sea training program, the nautical cadets can appear for the second mate examination. After passing they will be joining as navigational watch keeping officer as second mate onboard a ship. With further sea service, they will be promoted to CHIEF OFFICER & then MASTER (Captain) of the ship.

After successful completion of BSc. Nautical Science Course, the course certificate will be issued by the academy approved by DGS govt. of Indian . In addition to that candidates will obtain continuous discharge certificate (Indian CDC) from the directorate General of shipping Govt.of India as per the CDC rule.

 

Eligibility:-

  • Candidate should have passed in 10+2 or equivalent with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry with a PCM aggregate of not less than 55%.

 

  • Candidate possessing B.Sc.in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry or Electronics with an average of not less than 55% of marks in the final year and with Physics as individual subject in one of the year,.

 

  • Candidate possessing B.E./B.Tech Degree from I.I.T or from a college recognized by AICTE.

 

  • All the above should have English language as a subject, at either 10th or 12th standard or in the Degree/Diploma course, conducted by the Board or any University with not less than 50% marks.

PRE-SEA TRAINING – GENERAL PURPOSE RATING (6 MONTHS)

On successful completion of this Pre- Sea training the candidates will be able to join as a RATING in Indian & Foreign shipping companies as a Deck Crew or Engine Crew. The G.P.Rating candidate will be able to work in all seamanship activities on-board at deck side and other work at Engine side. With further sea services, they will be promoted as DECK SERANG, BOSUN, Able-Bodied Seamen/ Engine Fitter etc., They can also be promoted to officer Level with certain service and qualification requirements.

After completing this Pre-Sea Training, exams will be conducted by Board of examination for sea farers (BES) & successful candidates are eligible to obtain Continuous Discharge Certificate (INDIAN CDC) from the Directorate General of Shipping, Government of India.

Admission for General Purpose Rating(GP) - 6 Months Course

Eligibility :-

 

  • Pass in 10th Standard with Total Average 40% marks.(With Individual Pass in Mathematics, Science Subject). (Or)
  • Pass in 2 year I.T.I Course from Govt. approved institute with minimum 50% aggregate marks in final year.
  • 40% Marks in English Subject is required either in 10th or 12th Standard (Or) Any degree/Diploma Course.
Age Limit :-
  • Minimum 17 years 6 months - 25 years (Maximum)
NOTE:-
  • No color Blindness, 6/6 Vision in each eye. No Glasses permitted for deck crew.

Courses (DECK CADETS)

The Deck Officer has skills in all aspects of the Navigation of ships, cargo handling operations and storage, ship stability, ship maneuvering and ship management. Navigation today uses both satellite and other electronic means but a fundamental understanding of more traditional techniques is still vital to cope with all possible situations. Seamanship and safety are also of great importance for in spite of all the safeguards allowed by modern technology the sea will forever be a hostile environment. All of these skills will be learned by a mixture of training and practical experience. The ultimate goal of the Deck officer is to become Master of his/her own ship; leadership skills and man management are, therefore, also essential ingredients here.

A career at sea is both arduous and rewarding. It offers a high level of job satisfaction; a wide experience and challenging work environment. Experienced mariners are in great demand in various shore assignments because of their ability to handle all types of jobs, their resourcefulness, sense of responsibility and ability to work under most demanding circumstances. A deck officer is very valuable and responsible member of ship's team. He has to navigate the ship from one port to another in all circumstances with caution and safety at all times and maintains the equipment operated him in good working order. This gives him watch experience and tremendous confidence. However, it must be understood that the life of an officer is tough, and not suited for the weak hearted. But there are compensation as well a class III certificate of competence holder starts as a third officer (approx Salary: US$ 3000) with prospectus of becoming a master in about 8 years (approx salary US$ 7000-14000) plus leave and allowances.

DIPLOMA IN NAUTICAL SCIENCE (DNS) - 12 MONTHS

Eligibility:-

  • Candidate should have Passed in HSC (10+2) or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as separate subjects with a PCM average of not less then 55
  • Candidate possessing B.Sc. Degree in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry or Electronics with Physics as individual subject in one of the year, with an average of not less than 55% of marks in the final year,
  • Candidate possessing B.E./B. Tech. Degree from I.I.T or from a college recognized by AICT

  • Maximum 25 years of age as on 1st of January or 1st of August.
